MEET THE HEART OF ACADEMIA: THE STAFF THAT MAKES IT ALL HAPPEN

Academia Secondary School in Windhoek, Namibia, has built a strong reputation since its founding on January 22, 1975. Leading the school today is Principal Mr. H. Rust, whose vision and experience guide both staff and students toward success. He is supported by a dedicated leadership team including Mr. A. Beukes, Head of Mathematics and Sciences; Mrs. T. S. Binda, Head of Languages; Ms. C. Engelbrecht, Head of Social Sciences; and Ms. Z. Steenkamp, Head of Commerce. Together, they ensure the school’s curriculum stays relevant and rigorous, helping maintain high academic standards.

The school’s teaching staff is made up of around 36 professionals who cover a wide range of subjects, including science, languages, commerce, and the arts. These teachers are not just educators; they serve as mentors and role  models, often dedicating extra time to student development through clubs and extracurricular activities like the popular Model UN club. Their passion and commitment help students grow academically and personally, preparing them for future challenges both locally and internationally.

Supporting the teachers and students is a hardworking team of administrative and support staff who keep the school running smoothly. This includes administrative officers, lab technicians, librarians, security personnel, and maintenance workers, all crucial to creating a safe, clean, and welcoming environment. Their behind-the-scenes work often goes unnoticed but plays a vital role in the day-to-day success of Academia Secondary School, helping create the nurturing community that makes the school truly special.
